So I've finally come to the realization that I was taking this blog (and with that confession LIFE) wayyyyyyy toooo seriously. I would debate about if it should be personal or professional or somewhere in between ... but now i think it is time just to have fun ... so some days it may be PROFESSIONAL and some days silly but that is who I am ... I paint dogs and cats. It is crazy fun. So hopefully now I will be able to let go and admit ... everybody with me now ... "DOGS ARE FUNNY!!!!!"

I think that learning to say "no" ... "i can't" ... has to be the words that only the strongest can say ...
As a person who is trying to start her own business and make it without "The Man," I think that being able to make the realization that you can't be everything, for everyone, is one of the most important lessons of going for it on your own.

Follow your dreams ... Don't worry about the negative people ... Listen to yourself.

In celebration of the first day of summer, it is time to reflect and set some goals for the next few months. Things have been pretty crazy around ScoutDog Studios with lots of events to plan for as well as some orders to fill. It has been a little overwhelming at times and I've found that when I feel that way it is a good time to set some goals ... (let's see if I can follow my own advice for once).

1. Simplify. Don't have to be everything to everyone.

2. Focus. Make a daily list. You can't do everything in one day. Just take one task at a time and enjoy the challenge.

3. Organize studio.

4. Design print catalog and website. Send out info to new stores, reps and licensing agents.

5. Finish book proposal.

6. Design new products. Stick to one creative day a week to just play and explore new ideas.

Enjoy the first day of summer. Hopefully by the first day of fall I will have some great news to report that I stuck to my goals!

I love my girls ... and you know that you can't take live too seriously when a dog and a cat can nap away the evening cuddled in the bathroom. It just makes you smile.

Thanks to all of you that came out and checked out the booth at the People's Fair. The show was a lot of fun but as you all know who made the trek to Civic Center Park in downtown Denver it was HOT!!!!

And of course we had to take the traditional self-portrait.
